Meeting minutes generator
Meetings Brief's meeting minutes generator turns your notes or a meeting transcript into minutes in one of two formats: company minutes, a fair summary of what was discussed and decided, or board and association minutes in the Robert's Rules style, recording motions and votes without the discussion. Owners come from names in your text. It is free, with no account.
Or drop a .vtt, .srt or .txt transcript file here.
0 characters.
The same text can also make a meeting summary or a follow-up email. Your text goes with you.
Your minutes will appear here.
Paste your notes or drop a transcript file, choose the options, then press “Write the minutes”.

What it does not do
- It does not record or transcribe audio. For a recording, use audio to text first; the audio stays on your device.
- It is told never to make up motions, votes or names, and to mark what is missing as “Not recorded”. Read the draft before you file it.
- It does not approve the minutes or check your bylaws, and it is not legal advice.
- It keeps no history: copy or download the minutes before you leave.

Two kinds of minutes
Company minutes are a fair summary of the proceedings: who was there, the topics in the order they came up, what was discussed and decided under each, the action items and the next meeting. Use it for company, team and project meetings.
Board or association minutes, in the style of Robert's Rules of Order, record what was done, not what was said (Robert's Rules FAQ, checked 6 Oct 2026): who presided, who was present, each motion with who moved it and whether it carried or failed, the reports given, and when the meeting ended. Discussion and opinions are left out. Use it for boards, committees, clubs and associations; your own bylaws say what yours must include.
What the layout looks like
An example, made up to show the board format, with roles instead of names:
- Meeting: regular meeting of the board. The Chair presided; the Secretary took the minutes.
- Previous minutes: approved as read.
- Motions: that the budget be approved as presented. Moved by the Treasurer. Carried.
- Action items: Secretary — send the approved budget to members — No date.
Company minutes add a short paragraph of discussion under each topic instead of the motions.
From a Teams, Zoom or Google Meet transcript
- Microsoft Teams: the meeting organizer can download the transcript as a .docx or .vtt file, and it includes each speaker's name (Microsoft support, checked 7 Oct 2026). Download the .vtt and drop it here.
- Zoom: the transcript of a cloud recording is saved as a separate VTT file (Zoom support, checked 7 Oct 2026). Drop that file here.
- Google Meet: transcripts are saved in the meeting organizer's Google Drive (Google Meet help, checked 7 Oct 2026). Open the transcript, copy the text and paste it in.
A transcript file that names each speaker gives better minutes: when someone says “I will send it”, the minutes can name them as the owner instead of “Unassigned”.
After the minutes are written
Read them against your own memory of the meeting, fix names and figures, and fill in anything marked “Not recorded” that you know. Then approve them, with any corrections, the way your group's rules say. What happens to your text
The text is sent to Anthropic's AI to write the minutes, and it is not used to train AI models. This page has no account and keeps no history, so copy or download the minutes before you leave. For a long text, the finished minutes are held in private Supabase storage temporarily so this page can retrieve them again if a response is interrupted. It becomes eligible for daily cleanup after one day, normally completing within two days; outages can delay removal. Reading the result does not delete that temporary copy. The details are in section 4 of the privacy policy.
Questions people ask
Is the meeting minutes generator free?
Yes. There is no account, no paywall and no credit card. There is a daily limit per browser so the service stays available to everyone.
What is the difference between company minutes and board minutes?
Company minutes give a fair summary of what was discussed and decided under each topic, with the action items. Board or association minutes, in the Robert's Rules style, record what was done rather than what was said: each motion, who moved it and whether it carried, without the discussion.
Is this the same as MOM (minutes of meeting)?
Yes. Minutes of meeting, also written MOM, are meeting minutes. Choose company minutes for a MOM with who attended, the agenda, what was discussed and decided, and action items with owners and due dates.
Can it make minutes from a Teams or Zoom transcript?
Yes. Download the transcript as a .vtt file and drop it here. Each line keeps its speaker's name, so action items can name real owners.
Does it record motions and votes?
Only those in your text. It writes each motion, who moved it and the result as stated, and writes “Result not recorded” rather than filling in a vote.
Can it make minutes from an audio recording?
Not directly. Turn the recording into text first with audio to text, which runs in your browser so the audio is not uploaded. Then paste the transcript here.
How long can the meeting be?
Up to 400,000 characters of text, which is several hours of talk. Text over about 8,000 characters is read in sections first, so it takes longer.
Does it replace approving the minutes?
No. It writes a draft. Read it, correct it, and approve it the way your group normally does. It is not legal advice and does not check what your bylaws or local law require.
Is my text stored?
This page has no account and keeps no history. The text is sent to Anthropic's AI to write the minutes and is not used to train AI models. Copy or download the minutes before you leave. For long input, the finished result is temporarily held in private server storage. It becomes eligible for daily cleanup after one day, normally within two days; outages can delay removal.
