During the call. After the call.

Open. Listen. Follow through.

After setup, the pinned toolbar button starts transcription for your meeting tab. Tell everyone you're taking notes before you begin.

  1. Start from the meeting.

Open Google Meet, Zoom or Teams in a Chrome tab. Once your language is ready, click the Meetings Brief button. Include your microphone if you want your own voice in the transcript.

  2. See the words beside it.

The side panel shows You for your microphone and Others for sound from the selected tab. It does not name individual remote speakers. Check that the sources you chose are being heard.

  3. Finish with a useful brief.

Choose Stop and get the brief. The website creates your summary, decisions and action items. Confirm your email and leave automatic email on for a copy with the full transcript attached.

When does the brief open? With at least 150 words and no reported capture interruption, choosing “Stop and get the brief” or closing the meeting tab opens it automatically. For shorter conversations or an interrupted capture, review the saved text, then choose “Get the brief” if enough text was captured.

Start with where your audio is

The right route for your call.

The extension hears one Chrome tab, plus your microphone when allowed. Choose the website or an existing recording when your call is elsewhere.

The extension's route

A meeting in Chrome

Google Meet, or the web version of Zoom or Teams, in the tab you select.

Google Chrome 139+ on Windows, macOS or Linux, with your on-device speech language ready. Other browsers and ChromeOS are not supported by the extension.

Use the website

Another browser or app

The extension cannot hear those directly. The website offers other audio-sharing options, depending on your browser and operating system.

If no sound-sharing option is offered, move the meeting to a supported browser tab or use a recording afterwards.

Use a file or the microphone

On a phone

The extension does not run on iPhone or Android. A phone browser also cannot capture a call happening in another app on that phone.

Use a recording you are allowed to transcribe, or the website microphone for an in-person conversation with the page open and screen awake.

Before the first call

Prepare once.
Start simply.

On first install, the welcome page walks through these choices. New transcripts save automatically in this browser—there is no recovery key to create.

Try a short conversation before an important call. Check the meeting sound and, if included, your microphone. Headphones help avoid hearing the same speech twice.

  1. Pin the Meetings Brief button.

Open Chrome's puzzle-piece menu and pin the extension so you can find it from your meeting tab.

  2. Choose whether to include your voice.

Allow the microphone, or choose to use only the meeting tab's sound. You can add your microphone later.

  3. Get your language ready.

Choose the language people will speak. If Chrome needs to download it, keep setup open until it says Ready.

Want just the transcript?

Choose Stop without a brief, then Copy or Download in the extension. Audio is recognized on your computer; the extension does not save an audio recording. It keeps an encrypted transcript recovery copy.

Want a brief and an email copy?

When the brief opens, including automatically, transcript text goes to Anthropic's online AI. Email uses Resend and goes to your confirmed address. Review the result before sharing it. Read how your data is handled.

Can I install the extension now?

Yes. Install Meetings Brief from the Chrome Web Store in desktop Chrome 139 or later on Windows, macOS or Linux. The welcome page helps you prepare a supported speech-recognition language before your first call. You can also use live transcription on the website without installing anything or creating an account. AI briefs have daily limits.

How do I get the transcript and brief by email?

On the website, confirm your email address using the code sent to your inbox and leave automatic email enabled. When a brief is generated, it can be sent to that address with the full transcript attached as a text file. It does not automatically email the other participants. You can also read and download the result on the website. If delivery fails, the page shows the problem so you can use the on-screen copy or Download instead.

Why is there a language download before the first meeting?

The extension uses Chrome's on-device speech recognition. Choose the language people will speak, then wait until setup says Ready before the call. Download time and language availability depend on Chrome and your connection. If the language cannot be prepared, use live transcription or recording transcription on the website, which can use a different engine. The extension itself has no alternate speech engine.

Can it hear another browser, a desktop app or a phone call?

The extension captures one selected Chrome tab and, if allowed, your microphone. It does not capture other tabs, another browser, a desktop meeting app or calls on your phone automatically. Use the website for other audio-sharing options; what it can capture depends on your browser and operating system. A phone browser cannot capture a call in another app on that phone. An existing recording you are allowed to use is another option.

Does it know who said each sentence?

Your microphone is labeled You and sound from the selected tab is labeled Others. All remote participants share that Others label; the extension does not identify each remote speaker. Check names, numbers, decisions and commitments in the transcript and AI brief before sharing or acting on them.

What if my microphone disconnects during the call?

The extension keeps capturing the meeting tab and tells you your microphone stopped. Reconnect it or allow access, then choose Enable microphone to include your voice again. Words spoken while the microphone was unavailable cannot be recovered. Automatic brief creation pauses so you can review the transcript before choosing Get the brief.

What happens when I close the meeting tab or the call goes quiet?

With at least 150 words captured and no reported interruption, closing the meeting tab opens the brief page automatically. After about three quiet minutes, the extension also asks whether the meeting has ended, then stops 30 seconds later unless you choose No, keep listening. This quiet-call check starts only when enough words have been captured for a brief. To keep just the transcript, choose Stop without a brief yourself.

Can I recover my transcript after Chrome closes?

Reopen the extension to recover its latest saved transcript, copy or download it, get its brief, or delete it. New transcripts are protected automatically in this browser; there is no recovery key to set up. The last unsaved seconds may be missing, and listening never restarts automatically. This is one temporary recovery copy, not an unlimited archive; very long copies are limited to 400,000 characters. The website keeps meetings it successfully imports in that browser. Clearing browser data or removing the extension can delete saved copies, so download anything important. Older transcripts previously saved with a recovery key still need that key.
