The Kindness Community Foundation builds tools meant to be usable by everyone, and a tool that cannot be operated with a keyboard or read by a screen reader is not free in any sense that matters. This page states what currently works, what does not, and how to tell us when we have got it wrong.
We target the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. We describe that as a target rather than a certification: no formal third-party audit has been carried out, and the sections below list the gaps we know about. Anyone claiming full conformance without an audit is guessing.
A skip link on every page moves keyboard focus past the navigation to the content. Headings follow a real hierarchy — one h1 per page, with sections below it — so a screen reader's heading list is a usable table of contents. Navigation landmarks are labelled, the current page is marked with aria-current, and expandable controls report their state with aria-expanded. Every decorative image and icon is hidden from assistive technology; every meaningful image carries alternative text. Body text meets a 4.5:1 contrast ratio. All motion, including page transitions and reveal animations, is disabled under prefers-reduced-motion. The menu closes on Escape and on outside click, and opens on click rather than hover so it works with touch and keyboard alike.
Voice capture in more than a dozen languages is available as an alternative to typing. Every transcript and summary is available as text that can be copied, downloaded or enlarged, which means audio content has a text equivalent — useful if you are deaf or hard of hearing, and equally if you simply cannot play sound where you are.
Transcription is long-running and reports progress visually; the completion of a run is not announced through a live region, so a screen-reader user has to check for it. Automatic transcription is not a substitute for professional captioning and should not be relied on for accessibility compliance in your own materials. The decorative globe animation is hidden with aria-hidden but is canvas-based and cannot be resized by browser zoom. AI-generated summaries are plain text and are not structured with headings a screen reader can navigate by. We have not tested against every combination of screen reader and browser; NVDA on Windows and VoiceOver on macOS and iOS get the most attention.
Tell us and we will treat it as a defect rather than a feature request. If you cannot use part of Meetings Brief because of a disability, we will also provide the information or function in another format while the underlying issue is fixed. Please include what you were trying to do, the page, and the assistive technology and browser you were using — that combination is usually what makes a bug reproducible.
